If you’ve been wondering what all the fuss is about with Vision Boards, 2020 New Year and how to create one then you’re in the right place! If you’d like to watch the “5 Tips to Creating a Vision Board” Video on Facebook, click here.
How to begin Vision Boarding...
1. SPACE
Set aside 2-4 hours of uniterrupted time. Get in your favorite clothes, with a cup of tea and some favorite (healthy) snacks around. Light some candles, start your favorite playlist, etc. Do what makes it feel good for you to be in that space to create!
2. SUPPLIES
Start a few weeks prior collecting magazines. 10 is a good variety. You can ask from doctor’s offices, hair salons, neighbors, etc. I’ve even subscribed to “Travel” magazines on the cheap so I could use them for vision boards. Dollar Tree sells poster board for $0.50, glue sticks, and scissors.
If you don’t have magazines and are not prepared but want to complete a Vision Board, no stress, you still can! Option 1: You can print out images and cut them out. Option 2: You can use Canva to set up your digital vision board to place as your screensaver on your computer! Canva is free and you can join here.
3. MOOD
The purpose of a Vision Board is to create a positive feeling emotion, and inspire you to become the version of you that has all the things you desire. So, when you are planning out your board, think of how you want to feel each day! For example if you want to “lose weight” – it would not be beneficial to call attention to your current weight or having to “lose it”, Instead, pictures of healthy foods and activities that you would participate in as a fit person. Make sense?
4. MEDITATE
This is the key component of creating a vision that really resonates with your SOUL. This means connecting to your subconscious mind and tapping into the things that make us happy that might not be right in front of our conscious minds. Meditation is simply becoming aware of the room, our bodies, and our breathing and focusing in. You can find many free meditations on insighttimer.com. Calm and headspace are other aps that you can find meditations, as well as Youtube.
5. MANIFEST
After you come out of your meditation, you begin ripping images out from the magazines, not questioning or judging, but doing what makes you feel happy! Take as long as you need for this, but know after about an hour we are usually about done collecting images. From there you start sorting them and see what will fit. It’s okay – you will have to make a choice on what to keep and what goes. Then you can start cutting and pasting. Once your vision board is complete, hang it in a place where you will see it everyday. I like hanging min in my bathroom, closet, or above my desk as it becomes part of my morning routine!
