I’ve apparently become known for my waffle habit.
And that’s okay because I do eat them everyday. I put butter and honey (or agave) on them and I enjoy them with super special low acidity organic coffee while I read in the mornings. This is my most delightful time (and I’m not even a morning person).
People think it’s weird, or not healthy, or they are just excited to have waffles too…Wherever you are on the waffle spectrum, I’m here to show you exactly what my amazing breakfasts consist of.
First, we have to give some credit to the protein source.
As you know, I teach More Meals, More Protein (#MMMP) and you’ve gotta start that meal with a protein source. Here’s mine:
3-4 egg whites, 1 slice of nitrate free organic deli ham, 1 tbsp organic low fat shredded cheddar cheese (Earth Fare)
Then, gather the waffle toppings…
Trader Joes: Ghee (clarified butter) and local organic honey!
Grand finale — add waffles. Nature’s Path, gluten free frozen waffles.
Any flavor! Some of my favorites are:
- chia plus
- pumpkin spice
I’ve found these at Whole Foods, Earth Fare, and even Target!
Waffles are my go-to for mornings and sometimes even dinner.
This meal has some protein, carbs and a little bit of fat. A balanced meal designed to stabilize blood sugar. And I’m super happy every time I eat it!
Eating what you like is important to long term success with nutrition. When I was eating cold nasty talapia out of plastic containers I was hating my life. Now I feel amazing and am confident with my body conditioning because I’m not stressed about food or exercise. Balance is so freeing!
