I’ve had a conversation with one of my clients about success vs. failure and we both noticed that it is a lot easier to stay exactly where we are than to do the work that it takes to get to where we want to be.
Sometimes it feels more comfortable for us to continue to have adversity and struggle at something because it’s all we know and we have security in that. Stepping out and being successful is new territory and can feel scary.
I know that I struggled for years with my weight, and “never being lean enough” was something that I identified with. I was constantly punishing myself for not eating perfectly, which put me in a bigger mess of under eating followed by overeating.
This is where I want to get you away from — the cycle of feeling bad about what have done and then repeating that behavior over and over again.
It’s time to pat yourself on the back for committing to a program and welcome success into your life. Tony Robbins talks about first getting disturbed enough to want to make a change and then taking massive action towards that goal. That means – right now – today as you are reading this you better be doing something massive to improve your health. Or another day will pass with you continuing to be disappointed and knowing that you are less than your best.
This is the time when vision boards and visualization is key! Can you imagine how you will feel when your body gets leaner and you have accomplished something!? Can you hold onto the feeling right now and say “Hey – I’m doing pretty awesome and I’m just getting started! I know that I will reach my goals because I am ready for success!”I want you to do the work it takes to ACCEPT success.
Even just listening to your thoughts and how you feel is a start. Are you used to feeling negative and like you are struggling? That’s know as our identity and sometimes we’ve had these thoughts for our entire lives – so it’s not easy to break over night.
But with the right coaching and guidance and positive influence, you CAN and you WILL change your life. You have to believe that.
And if you are here, you’ve also got to believe that you are here for a reason, that I wrote these words for you to read and that now is the time to take ACTION.
Will you go another minute, or another day with feeling less than your best? Will you give up before you even start? Just because you have a history of a certain behavior or belief does not mean that you can’t change. When people have a big enough “why” they will change, because there is literally no other option.
Stop saying “I should…” and start doing! Start making those “shoulds” into daily commitments, or tiny habits, that will take you closer to your goal. You must focus on the goal instead of all the seemingly big things you need to do to get there.
Each day that you commit to doing your best is another day that you are truly succeeding. You don’t need to be a certain weight or make it the whole way to the end of a program before you start feeling good about yourself. Do it today.
Congratulate yourself for making it all day without eating a doughnut, or pat yourself on the back for drinking all of your water. You’ve got this.
And you also have a doubter inside of you. Realize that that is the *fearful version* of yourself, but you also have a Powerful Self that you can harness. When you know what’s going on you can recognize it and change your thoughts, words and actions.
So that leaves me with the same question…are you ready for success?
